Tips for naming an app
Avoid the issues, time, and resources expended that follow a rejection from Apple or Google by following these tips:- Create a unique name that describes the app and its content accurately and clearly
- Make sure that the name is easy and simple for visitors and users to remember
- Showcase the app’s core features in the app name
- Be sure to check the availability of the mobile app name, including any social media handles and domain names
Things to avoid
When naming a Branded Mobile App, avoid the following:- Prices or pricing information (e.g., Free)
- Popular names, references to other apps, or existing names
- Inappropriate or irrelevant content
- Trademarked names or information
- Special characters or emojis
- Names over the limit of 30 characters
Note:
Keep in mind that the name you choose for the app that shows up on the device does not have to match the name of the app in the store(s). We do have character limitations for the app on the device, and those are different than the rules guiding naming on the storefront pages.
