What does it mean to manually resubscribe

Subscribers are contacts that have provided the proper permissions expressing consent to receive your marketing emails. Manually resubscribing a contact after having unsubscribed may result in non-compliance with various electronic communication and/or data privacy laws. If your contact has been unintentionally unsubscribed, it is best to organically allow your contacts to resubscribe to your marketing emails with a Form Submission on your site. Be sure to consult with legal counsel in your area to familiarize yourself and interpret the various email laws that may be applicable to you and your recipient’s country/region before applying the information found in this guide.
Note: If a contact is unsubscribed from an Email Sequence and resubscribes, they will not receive any emails from the sequence. Our teams are actively working to resolve the issue.

Resubscribe unsubscribed contacts

To resubscribe a contact that may have been unsubscribed due to a typing error or a change in the email address, complete a Double Opt-in Form for your contact. Using a Double Opt-in Form will require your contact to confirm their desire to subscribe to your marketing emails and can help aid in staying compliant with email laws (see Disclaimer). First, create a Double Opt-in Form you wish to use to resubscribe unsubscribed contacts. Be sure to include any applicable custom Fields to capture additional information associated with your contact(s). After creating your Double Opt-in Form, complete the Form with your subscriber’s correct information:
  • Open the Marketing tab from the Dashboard.
  • Click Forms.
  • Select the Double Opt-in Form you created to resubscribe unsubscribed contacts.
  • Click Preview in the top menu.
  • Enter the correct contact information in the Form.
  • Then, Submit the Form.
Because it is a Double Opt-in Form, your contact will be required to confirm their desire to subscribe by clicking Confirm subscription in the subscription confirmation email received in their email inbox: Important please confirm your subscription If your contact does not wish to subscribe, they can choose to ignore the email received and remain unsubscribed. The Double Opt-in Confirmation Email is an automated email sent by your site when double opt-in is enabled on a Form. Note: If you re-import a deleted contact, their previous information will not be restored. Attempting to resubscribe a contact by deleting and re-importing will require a double opt-in confirmation from the contact to resubscribe the deleted contact to your marketing emails.
