Overview

With Kajabi Payments, you can adjust billing dates for active subscriptions and payment plans. This feature offers increased flexibility to support customers’ individual schedules, align billing with group program launches, or even extend a trial period.
Note: Kajabi Payments is currently available to Heroes whose businesses are registered in the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, and select European countries.

How billing date updates work

This flexibility gives you more control over billing while creating a smoother experience for your customers. If a customer is enrolled in a subscription or payment plan and requests to adjust their payment schedule, you can make this update directly from the Transaction Details page in Kajabi. When the billing date is updated:
  • The selected date becomes the anchor for all future payments
  • The current billing period is extended to that date, meaning customers may receive additional access without being charged
  • The billing interval remains unchanged (monthly, weekly, or annual), but you may optionally update the price during the same process
Note: Extending a billing date gives your customer additional access to your content without charging them. To charge for the extra time, create and send a prorated invoice before updating the billing date. Learn how to create an invoice with Kajabi Payments.

Billing frequencies supported

  • Monthly billing: Select a numeric calendar day (e.g., the 9th). All future charges will occur on that date each month.
  • Weekly billing: Select a day of the week (e.g., Monday). All future charges will align with that weekday.
  • Annual billing: Select a month and day (e.g., April 3rd). Future payments will align to that exact date.

Tips, nuances, and common use cases

The billing date update feature supports a variety of scenarios:
  • Pause or skip a month: Customer requests to skip April 10th? Set the next billing date to May 10th.
  • Align billing to a program start: Perfect for cohort-based programs where billing needs to match a group kickoff date. Shift the next charge to match a group start date.
  • Extend a trial period: Push the first payment date forward, extending the trial without billing.
  • Weekly billing flexibility: Set billing to a preferred weekday (e.g., always charge on Mondays).
  • Manage free access vs. paid time: Delay the billing date to extend access for free, or invoice first for the extra time.

Important notes and limitations

FAQs

Will my customer be charged immediately when I update the billing date?

No. The customer receives access through the billing date without an additional charge. If you want to bill for the extended time, you must manually invoice them first. Learn how: Invoicing with Kajabi Payments

Can I use this to skip multiple billing cycles?

Yes. You can update the billing date as many times as needed, each time pushing it forward by another interval.

What if my customer is still on a trial?

Updating the billing date will extend the trial period by the selected amount of time. This can be useful if you want to delay their first charge.

Can I change the billing interval (e.g., from weekly to monthly)?

No. This feature only updates the billing date, not the billing interval. If you wish to change the interval, you will need to cancel and re-enroll the customer on an offer with a different interval.

Is this feature available for Heroes using the third-party Stripe integration?

No. This is exclusive to Kajabi Payments.
