How Downloads security works

Kajabi generates a temporary URL when a customer clicks on your download link. This temporary URL is created specifically for that customer and auto-initiates the download. A customer must be logged in to perform the download. The link cannot be copied, and if shared publicly, it cannot be used to download your content.

What makes the temporary URL secure

  • Not guessable - The temporary URL uses a secure, randomized format
  • Hidden from the customer - The URL is not visible or accessible to copy
  • Regenerated each time - A new URL is created with each download click, so shared links won’t work
  • Expires after 1 minute - After expiration, your customer must be logged in and click download again to generate a new temporary URL

Do customers need to be logged in to download files?

Yes. A customer must be logged in to their account to generate a temporary download URL and access your files. If the link expires, the customer can simply click the download button again while logged in. A new secure temporary URL is generated with each click.
